Job Summary: The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse is accountable for the safe, individualized, efficient, and effective management and delivery of nursing care for women before, during and after delivery of the baby.

Secondary department: Med/Surg

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Licensed as a Registered nurse (RN) is required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire is required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 60 days of hire is required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire is required
  • Attend the Perinatal Practicum course is required
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification within 6 months is required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year of hire is required
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 1 year of hire is required

Work Schedule

  • Night Shift, 7:00pm-7:30am; 72 hours every 2 weeks
    • Every 3rd weekend
    • Holiday rotation: 1 summer, 1 winter
    • Occasional call time
