The Urology Advanced Practitioner will work in a collegial relationship with the Jennie Stuart Medical Center Urologist(s), providing high quality urologic care to patients with the goal of allowing each patient to attain his or her maximum level of wellness and satisfaction. The APP will collaborate with other health care disciplines working with patient and their families to coordinate high quality, individualized health care to promote a safe environment for wellbeing. Required Skills Job Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activities. Position specializes in treating patients with kidney stones and other general urologic conditions. Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests. Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment. Collaborates with physician(s) to provide appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice. Collects, organizes, records, and discusses data as appropriate and uses sound clinical judgment based in best practice standards and evidenced based medicine. Prescribes pharmaceuticals according to patient needs and conducts appropriate patient follow-up & outreach. Ensures timely retrieval of laboratory and ancillary studies and diagnostic consultation reports. Consults with appropriate internal and external staff to make appropriate referrals for acute, chronic and preventive care. Coordinates patient care and visits with appropriate clinical and non-clinical staff. Educates patient and families using pertinent health education materials or programs. Operates within approved scope of practice and standardized procedures. Participates in quality improvement process, policy and procedure review and continuing medical education. Contributes to the overall cleanliness and appearance of personal workspace and department. Maintains all clinical equipment. Evaluates all equipment for damage or maintenance needs and reports when needed. Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities. Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards. Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information. Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization. Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and/or standards from other accrediting bodies, such as The Joint Commission, Rural Health, and Center for Medicare Services. As a Studer Partner must have the ability to develop a full understanding of the Studer Group practices and tools and communicate effectively. Must embrace the Studer Philosophy and Principals by conducting him/herself in a professional manner. Will be held accountable for Studer Philosophies and Principles to include: Patient Perception AIDET Daily Huddles Required Experience Minimum Education: Graduate of an approved physician assistant / nurse practitioner program. Work Experience: Previous clinical experience preferred. Required License/ Certification/Registration: Current Kentucky PA/APP License with prescriptive authority and current DEA number. Basic Life Support Certification. Must be eligible for or board certified by the appropriate governing body. Skills: Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate. Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate in other languages - highly desirable. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to patients of all ages. Highly organized with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks with full autonomy. Knowledge of computer systems, including experience with medical software Ability to adhere to HHC MG policies and standards of service as well as HIPAA requirements, OSHA regulations and Infection Control standards. Communicates tactfully and effectively and demonstrates a commitment to superior patient care. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships and an achievement-oriented attitude. Displays courtesy and helpfulness when interacting with all internal and external customers. Exhibits strong personal initiative and proactively acts to achieve goals beyond what is required or assigned.
