Description

Under the direction and daily supervision of the Teen Services Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the senior counselor will be responsible for the supervision, behavior management and programming of the participants in the Achievers Program.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and implement weekly lesson plans that are fun, challenging, safe and age appropriate. Lesson plans must meet program guidelines and established minimums.
  • Responsible for the safety of the children at all times.
  • Responsible for daily record keeping and adherence to all guidelines.
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required by the program staff.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning and maintenance of the space and/or facility, help to create an environment each day, set up and take down included, while meeting quality walk through standards.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing Family Nites, sleepovers, full days and parent/child activities.
  • Responsible for meeting the individual needs of all the children in the program regardless of group placement.
  • Control and maintain supplies and inventory.
  • Maintain positive relationships and open, positive communication with parents, YMCA personnel and administration.
  • Maintain operational standards.
  • Ensure program are and assigned age group meet or exceed all standards.
  • Assist staff in achieving program goals and operational standards.
  • Responsible for the implementation of lesson plans and leadership of staff in program operation under the overall supervision of the Director.
  • Take on additional responsibilities in support services for the total program.
  • Assume any other duties as assigned by the YMCA Administration
Requirements:

This position requires an individual with the ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff and parents. He/she must have strong decision making skills, versatility, initiative, and strong human relation skills. Staff must understand and follow guidelines and maintain quality standards.

Requirements

The midpoint for this position is $11.87, we typically offer new hires between the min-mid of the range unless they have higher than average experience for this role.
