Contract Days: Twelve-Month
JOB GOALS
Trauma Clinicians will support and advocate for students and families experiencing high needs in order to be successful in class and their personal development. By the end of the 2022-2023 SY, 75% of students and families referred to the trauma clinician will have access to the resources they need and develop advocacy skills that support their growth as individuals as well as in unlocking their greatest potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promote a positive school climate and culture by implementing trauma-informed, restorative practices to improve student social and emotional wellness
- Collaborate and develop Hogan staff in the utilization of strategies and approaches that support student development with a personalized approach
- Analyze data reports as needed by student information systems to determine opportunities for development to improve the outcomes of all students regarding communication, systems, treatment, and/or intervention
- Evaluate Hogan policies and systems for clinical compatibility, effectiveness in addressing the needs of all students, and submit recommendations as needed
- Provide trauma-informed, restorative solutions for interventions, crisis response support, conflict resolution, and other social emotional support for families and students
- Establish partnerships with community services and organizations to address the needs of students in the Hogan community
- Refer families to services as needed and monitor the impact and effectiveness that services render for families and students
- Conduct home visits, communication, and other strategies to establish positive, productive relationships with families and students to connect them to the resources they need, develop family understanding of the needs of their student(s), and encourage families to engage with the Hogan community
- Coach families and school personnel on development of student success plans that outline specific, measureable, and attainable goals promoting student advocacy, self-awareness and management, and achievement for success academically and personally
- Organize and maintain accurate, complete, and confidential case management records (paper and electronic), including: student progress notes, contact logs, referrals, follow-up documents, reports, assessments, etc.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or closely related degree
- Missouri professional license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or as a Licensed Professional Counselor
- Three (3) years of direct working experience with socio-economically challenged youth in a culturally and ethnically diverse urban setting
- Three (3) years of experience with case management
- Three (3) years of experience in individual and small group clinical intervention
- Demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of mental health assessment and treatment
- Previous experience working with school systems and local, state or federal agencies
- Knowledge and experience of providing trauma-sensitive service and an understanding of how trauma impacts the students and other systems
- Demonstrated experience preparing detailed written and oral reports
- Ability to perform basic statistical analysis is a requirement, along with problem solving abilities
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Strong organizational skills
- Must have current driver's license and eligibility for insurance through Hogan insurance provider
- Must have the ability to conduct assessments and write reports.
- Office skills including typing (keyboarding), and computer skills with the ability to use Excel, Word, Access, MS Outlook, and other operating systems
- Strong familiarity with education and child welfare policies and best practices and a motivation to continue expanding that knowledge base through self-study and interaction with peers.
- Excellent organizational skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities simultaneously.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and other educational partners
- Initiative to identify challenges, as well as to design and implement solutions
- Excellent work ethic, positive attitude and exceptional people skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Director policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and talk to hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to bend at the neck more than the average person. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment. Occasionally the employee is required to lift or move up to 90 pounds, such as to move students and equipment on wheels.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud at a standard acceptable level for this environment. The employee is continuously responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
