Job Title: Clinical Technician, Dialysis Job Specialty: - Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM, including Saturdays (36 hours per week) 3x12 hour shifts Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Previous dialysis experience preferred License: N/A Certifications: Dialysis clinical technician certification required (or must be obtained within 18 months of hire) Must-Have: High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree in science preferred Job Description: - Responsible for the monitoring and direct care of patients on hemodialysis under the supervision of nursing staff.- Work as a member of the interdisciplinary team caring for dialysis patients.- Monitor patients on an ongoing basis and communicate information to the appropriate team member.- Reinforce education to patients and document patient care and observations.- Follow operational activities specific to the assigned unit, including call-in times and breaks.- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity.- Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.- Communicate effectively with other departments, agencies, or service organizations.- Demonstrate planning and organizational skills in work activities.- Follow doctors' orders within the parameters of role and comply with infection control policies and procedures.- Help minimize waste in the assigned unit and monitor and adjust dialysis therapy within the scope of practice.- Serve as a resource and referral point for patients.- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and maintain a neat and safe work area.- Exhibit technical and task-oriented skills, such as cannulation and machine set-ups.- Administer necessary medications via the extracorporeal system under delegation and nursing supervision.- Perform blood drawing procedures and may be required to take on-call duties in acute settings.- Consistently practice core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors.- Exhibit qualities such as self-direction, flexibility, teamwork, initiative, a willingness to learn, and respect for diversity.- Stand and walk most of the time on duty, lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs, and carry dialysate solution containers.- Demonstrate willingness to work effectively in a complex and changing environment.- Communicate effectively and respond to constructive criticism professionally.- Ensure adherence to confidentiality, HIPAA safety, and privacy requirements.- Actively participate in continuous learning for personal and team development.- Perform additional duties as assigned.
