Miscellaneous Helper

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Performs laboring tasks as instructed by foreman to move materials, do minor assemblies, maintain and clean the plant, equipment and grounds. Also to cover various grade 2 functions, including: Storekeeper and Shipper/Packer/Receiver

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: Shovels, brooms, mops, lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, hand or fork truck, vacuum, sump pump and other similar equipment. Power and hand tools, such as drills, and air tools.

SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: Foreman

WORKING PROCEDURE:

  1. Reads and interprets instructions pertaining to proper procedures required for the assigned task.
  2. Moves and handles materials to designated areas as required.
  3. Does minor assemblies.
  4. Fulfills responsibility for quality conformance of completed work to applicable specifications and quality standards.
  5. Washes machines, removes sludge and chips, cleaning sumps and replaces cartridges in filters.
  6. Fill machines with proper coolant and monitor percentage of solution level and record.
  7. Maintains oil inventory.
  8. Sweeps floors, cleans windows, walks, lights, breakrooms, restrooms and premises. Empties trash, removes/disposes of cardboard, wood and pallets.
  9. Removes snow, removes weeds and brush, cleans outside premises.
  10. Assist Maintenance when a laboring task is required.
  11. May paint machines and building.
  12. May change light bulbs and fluorescent lamps.
  13. Handling of hazardous waste, oils, grinding sludge, and coolants. Weighing and labeling containers and inventory.
  14. Cleaning facility fans and filters.
  15. Clean roof drains.
  16. Prepares work records and other paperwork required to carry out the primary function.
  17. Performs all tasks that may be required to perform the primary function of the job assigned.
