DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
- GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- SPECIFIC DUTIES (Essential functions are highlighted in bold)
- Effectively supervise and thoroughly train consumers with regard to grounds maintenance services, ensuring that crew members understand the tasks they are to perform and are able to identify and to properly and safely utilize required hand tools, grounds maintenance equipment, and related supplies.
- Responsibilities to assigned consumers include:
- Ensure individual is adequately oriented to the service area (EAFB sites)
- Provide training on the identification, use, handling, operation, and maintenance of required hand tools, equipment, and related supplies.
- Supervise crew members to ensure their safe and proper use, handling, and operation of tools, equipment, and supplies. Provide additional training and/or corrective action, as needed.
- Observe consumers' performance and provide feedback to case management staff with regard to their abilities, behaviors and attitudes, as well as their strengths and limitations, as required; document such. Report any unacceptable or unsafe performance and/or behaviors immediately.
- Maintain consumer accountability at all times.
- Evaluate each consumer's task performance and progress as required.
- Participate in team conferences/meetings with Counselor/Program Manager concerning persons served, as needed.
- Delegate work assignments, monitor individual crew member and group performance, and support the crew in task completion in a manner that ensures a steady work pace and completion of each site(s) within the required time frame and in accordance with the statement of work.
- Ensure completion of tasks to be performed at each site, in keeping with the established work schedule and the statement of work.
- Demonstrate complete and thorough knowledge and understanding of the tasks to be performed at each site
- Delegate work assignments and monitor crew members individually and as a group to ensure a steady work pace and the quality of the tasks completed.
- Support the crew in the completion of assigned tasks.
- Ensure crew members not only complete the required tasks, but do so in a manner that meets the PWS for performance and quality; mitigates quality and performance deficiencies, as identified by DH and CE's quality control personnel; and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Walk site and quality check results, ensuring crew members complete and/or re-do any areas missed and/or that are not in keeping with the statement of work. Immediately advise supervisor of any tasks that cannot be completed and the reason for such.
- Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and proficiency with regard to how the various equipment, tools, and vehicles used on the contract work/function and are to be operated; perform regular operations checks, and ensure required service as needed to avoid damage from improper use and/or neglect.
- Care for and ensure proper working order of any assigned vehicle, equipment, tools, etc.
- Report to supervisor any needed maintenance, repair, or replacement in a timely manner.
- Advise supervisor in a timely manner of any irrigation systems or components, including valves, sprinkler heads, etc. that require repair or adjustment.
- Secure and maintain required certifications and licensures as required, such as:
- Qualified Applicator's Certificate (required)
- 483 Flight Line Driver's License and CMA Certification
- T-1 Security Clearance (required, unless otherwise directed)
- Class B Driver's License
- If certified to spray as an applicator, strictly adhere to all DHE, EAFB, and industry standards and protocols for safety in the mixing, applying, storage, and discarding of herbicides and related chemicals.
- Follow and comply with all DHE and EAFB safety policies and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring the same of all crew members, and use good judgment concerning safe work behavior and practices; cooperate with safety efforts; report potential hazards and/or safety violations immediately.
- Perform daily vehicle pre-trip inspections and submit to supervisor on a daily basis.
- Accurately complete and maintain attendance, consumer observations/notations, and any other documentation required.
- Conduct, participate in, and document monthly emergency drills with crew members and submit paperwork to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Interact effectively with counselor/program manager, as needed, to share and discuss any issues or concerns regarding consumer performance, behavior, etc. to best ensure consumer success on crew.
- Attend staff meetings and in-services as required.
- Advise supervisor of any and all communications and/or happenings that are significant and/or unusual.
- Maintain responsibility for consumer supervision, accountability, and training during paid lunch period.
- Serve as a positive role model for consumers, as well as for coworkers.
- Comply with DHE's Code of Conduct and other agency policies and procedures and guidelines relative to ethical and professional business practices, interpersonal relationships, and personal conduct.
- Perform other related duties as required.
