ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and document design concepts.
  • Code embedded control software and verify on benches and on crane.
  • Specify and develop standard control system across multiple crane models.
  • Perform development tasks related to ISO 13849, HARA, and define resulting Safety Functions as defined in ISO 13849.
  • Assignments may involve new product design, product improvements, analysis, production and service support utilizing a variety of engineering disciplines
  • Responsibilities include understanding hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and control sub-system.
  • Prepare and report on progress, feasibility, and concept studies.
  • Work with test engineers during the product verification stage.
  • Maintain close contact and coordinate activities with other groups within the engineering department.
  • Ability to perform job functions in a safe manner, successfully complete all safety training required by the time constraints set by governmental regulations.
  • Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required, by company policy, for the job being performed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • A Bachelor's degree in Software, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with courses and/or experience in control system design. Similar degrees such as Mechatronics will also be considered.
  • Understanding of embedding programming in C language and Simulink as well as a strong understanding of control theory is a plus.
  • Understanding of CAN serial communication (specifically CANOpen) is a plus.
  • Must be able to work in small groups and independently; will interact with a team of engineers and project managers.
  • Must be capable of working on a jobsite or production factory environment, heat, cold, wet, dry, etc. for a brief period of time.
  • Required to be able to climb a ladder to the height of 12 ft.
  • Potential travel both domestically and internationally up to 5% of time
