Provides surgical technology to direct and indirect care and service. Assists surgeons in performing operative/invasive procedures. Serves as a mentor and trainer to other surgical technologists and students. Utilizes additional education gained through certification to improve performance and efficiency.

  • Prepares for surgeon-specific operative/invasive procedures in a timely and efficient manner. Sets up sterile field and is scrubbed prior to patient entering the room. Collaborates with surgeon prior to case and adjusts as necessary. Precepts surgical techs and RNs to prepare for surgeon-specific procedures.
  • Scrub on simple to complex procedures for a variety of specialties. Adapts style to match surgeon and procedures. Anticipates and provides so that attention needs not be diverted from the operative field. Teaches RNs to scrub on a variety of cases.
  • Plans, anticipates, and provides for expected and unexpected intra-op events. Observes for induction and maintains quiet. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and job knowledge that will raise performance as well as teach others observation/knowledge. Adheres to assigned weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Communicates and collaborates with others. Shares knowledge and ideas. Participates in required call. Performs a variety of activities to ensure an efficient and effective unit. Participates in quality improvement efforts.
