Vaco is seeking a Network Engineer with a strong background in Route / Switch Networking and decent Wi-Fi knowledge to join our Network Engineering team and function, assisting Velocity deliver a superior customer experience.

Our client operates many diverse and vendor agnostic networks. The incumbent in this role will be responsible for quickly understanding and operating on these networks, using existing documentation and independent discovery of environments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical skills in network-based technologies primarily focused on route / switch / Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Ability to load configurations, troubleshoot issues, test and turn up, walk on-site technicians through conversions and troubleshooting.
  • Act as liaison supporting field techs on the install team who are loading and testing configurations
  • Strong communication skills to support field tech team.
  • Serve as an escalation contact for technical engineering teams
  • Perform build and configuration work that incorporates industry best practices for hospitality and enterprise networks
  • Ensure that security improvements are successfully implemented and monitored
  • Coordinate proper installation, configuration, and testing of network components
  • Assist in developing and maintaining hardware life cycle management methodologies
  • As needed, create and maintain documentation to support the implementation and management of network technologies
  • Engage and manage external vendors as appropriate to enhance the team's capabilities
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
  • This position will have one week of training onsite on Toledo OH area ideally May 20th and remote thereafter.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • 2+ years' experience implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining network systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge working with most networking protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, IPSEC, TCP/IP)
  • Demonstrated knowledge working with wireless network standards, protocols, and technologies (e.g., 802.11)
  • Demonstrate the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications, Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in technology or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience with at least two of the following products and platforms: Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Adtran, Ruckus, Aruba, Arista, Palo Alto, and Fortinet
  • Industry relevant certifications - e.g., Cisco CCNP, Fortinet, etc.
