Reference #: R14803 BASIC PURPOSE: The database solution architect is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Clario's database infrastructure. They will work closely with stakeholders and development teams to understand business requirements and develop a database architecture that can effectively store, manage, and retrieve data across our various database technologies. They will also contribute to the design and implementation of the overall application environment to ensure optimal database and application performance and stability. Previous experience in stabilizing and migrating older, EOL data platforms is a plus. Clario is a 50+ year old company that delivers industry leading clinical trial endpoint technology solutions. Clario is looking to hire a Database Solution Architect who will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Clario's database infrastructure. They will work closely with stakeholders and development teams to understand business requirements and develop a database architecture that can effectively store, manage, and retrieve data across our various database technologies. They will also contribute to the design and implementation of the overall application environment to ensure optimal database and application performance and stability. Previous experience in stabilizing and migrating older, EOL data platforms is a plus. What you'll be doing Plan and install upgrades of database management system software to enhance database performance. Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability. Identify and correct deviations from database development standards. Design and assist in setting up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes. Document and communicate database schemas. Provide 3rd level technical support as needed to junior staff, R&D or clients. Identify, evaluate, and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance. Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately. Collaborate with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements. Lead the evaluation, proof of concepts, negotiations and selection of products and tools to support database strategy. Create solutions to automate manual, human tasks and produce overall automation strategy. Ensure that the database meets any regulations and standards when dealing with sensitive data. Design automated deployment procedures for on-premises and cloud. Work closely with external partners and contractors delivering database service delivery. Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings. What we look for BS degree in Computer Science, Math or Engineering degree with technical background highly desired or demonstrated equivalent experience. Advanced degree and/or certifications a plus. 8+ years of hands-on experience working with database technologies. Strong database architecture, engineering, and design skills. Outstanding troubleshooting skills. Solid knowledge of relational database architecture and concepts. Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL, MongoDB, Oracle, and Postgres technologies. Strong analytical skills. Ability to perform system monitoring and address various issues in the system. Ability to do performance tuning. Strong quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills, with demonstrated ability to determine event root causes, performance shortfalls and required corrective actions. Technic l knowledge in software development methodologies, design patterns, tools and implementation. Knowledge of Linux, Windows, NetApp, HCI, Dell, Cisco UCS, networking, virtualization and other data center platforms. Experience working in a DevOps or Scrum methodology preferred. Ability to prioritize work and stay organized in complex, fast-paced environment with high levels of ambiguity. Knowledge of service level agreements, uptime reporting and business impact analysis. Experience working with the databases in public Clouds, preferably AWS. Experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) a plus. Proficiency in automation.
