The Department of Health in Pinellas has an OPS Senior Clerk position open in the Medical Services Program at the St. Petersburg Health Department.

Job Summary-OPS Senior Clerk: The successful incumbent will work be the in the immunization's clinic checking in clients and monitoring clinic flow for the nurses. This position involves regular contact with a diverse population both in person and over the phone and will require working with sensitive and confidential information.

Your Specific Responsibilities

  • Greets clients arriving to the immunization clinic.

  • Assists clients with completion of consents, forms and applications as needed. Collects and updates client demographic information in the electronic medical record. Uses Florida Shots data base to research client information and enter immunization records.

  • Schedules client appointments and completes appointment reminder phone calls.

  • Scans and attaches documents to client medical records.

  • Works with the immunization nurses to monitor clinic flow, and update clients regarding wait time

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize work, identify changing priorities and adjust as needed.

  • Ability to self-monitor work for accuracy and maximum productivity

  • Ability to use multiple computer programs and software such as Microsoft office to retrieve and/or input data.

  • Strong internal and external customer service skills

  • Ability to independently solve problems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in addition to good listening skills

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others

  • Knowledge of patient confidentially laws

  • Ability to work with a diverse population

  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • At least 2 years of computer experience

  • At least 2 years' experience working in a fast-paced customer service position

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Preferred

  • At least 1 year experience working in a medical office at the front desk
