Switchgear Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Compensation: $20-$30 per hour (depending on experience)

Responsible for assembling/disassembling industrial grade electrical switchgear and creating custom enclosures and buss work per customer specs.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **

• Setup, program, and run metal working machines

• Material handling and organization

• Print reading

• Problem solving

• Build individual and low production run parts

• Assemble/disassemble electrical switchgear

• Create custom enclosures and buss work per customer specs.

• Build prototypes and test products

• Cut and weld metal.

• Choose correct insulation and properly install over buss.

• Rack breakers in and out of cubicles and know correct interlock positions.

May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks and work may be assigned

**QUALIFICATI ONS **

• Previous knowledge/experience as a fabricator or other similar skilled trade desired not required.

• Strong mechanical and construction aptitude and troubleshooting/problem solving skills

• Ability to read common measurement tools (tape, scale, calipers, etc.)

• Must own and use your own mechanics tools. Specialty tools provided

• Deadline and detail-oriented is a MUST

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment as part of a team or individually

• Able to work with shop technicians and engineering to create structures and parts

• Willingness to learn.

• Experience with welding desired, not required.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE **

• High school Diploma or equivalent required.

• Welding: 1 year (Preferred)

• Construction: 1 year (Preferred)

• Electrical: 1 year (Preferred)

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS **

• Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.

• Frequent walking.

• Frequent overhead/ladder work.

• Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion.

• Lifting requirements include occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 10 pounds.
