JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

In addition to the core responsibilities outlined in the individual's primary role job description, the District Lead Counselor role encompasses several supplemental duties and expectations that are crucial to the efficient and effective district counseling department's resources and activities. These supplemental duties play a pivotal role in the overall organization and functionality of the educational institution.

KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for all school counselors
  • Provide ongoing support for counselors to build their leadership capacity.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to support the development of the school's curriculum.
  • Ensure that course offerings align with educational goals and student needs.
  • Supervises individual school counseling activities for students in academic, career, and personal/social issues provided by the Guidance Department.
  • Supervises the delivery of a planned and sequential program for grades Pre K - 12.
  • Attends conferences and workshops designed to maintain and upgrade school counseling and supervisory skills.
  • Participates in the selection of school counselor personnel.
  • Adheres to the ethical standards of the state and national school counselor associations.
  • Stays current with district policies and state and federal laws pertaining to school counseling.
  • Articulate a method of systematic delivery of individual planning to all students appropriate to their age and grade level
  • Work with faculty and administrators to ensure that classrooms are optimally assigned, taking into consideration class size, specialized equipment, and any unique classroom needs.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders are informed of the district's counseling department changes and emergency procedures to maintain safety and security.
  • Regularly seek feedback from students, teachers, and staff regarding the district's counseling program, making necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and meet the needs of the district's community.
  • Ensure that the district's counseling practices align with local, state, and federal educational regulations and policies and that schedules support the school's overall educational goals and objectives.
  • Stay informed about changes in educational policies and adapt counseling practices accordingly to remain compliant and meet the evolving needs of the educational community.
  • Works with school administrators and academic departments to create a comprehensive counseling program for the academic year.
