TITLE: Learning Management System Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Director of Distance Education and Instructional Design

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Collaborates with the Director of Online Learning and the Information Technology department to develop, and implement learning technology strategies and tactics that facilitate the design, development, implementation, and delivery of learning and development solutions aligned with organizational goals. Assists with the development and delivery of university-wide training guidelines, processes, and standards and ensures consistency and compliance with these. Provide university-wide support relative to learning technology. Researches and recommends learning technology solutions to support the university's education business plan.

Responsible for implementation, management, and maintenance of the university's on-line Learning Management System and other learning technology solutions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Collaborates to develop and implement learning technology strategies and tactics that facilitate the design, development, implementation, and delivery of learning and development solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of university-wide training guidelines, processes, standards, and protocols, and ensure compliance to and consistency in the application of these across the organization.
  • Performs root-cause analysis to identify learning technology needs to support the university's business plan.
  • Collaborates with the information technology department to identify and develop, or research and recommend, courseware and systems solutions for the delivery, tracking, monitoring, and evaluation of university-wide learning solutions. Engages organizational leadership to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of these solutions.
  • Works with external vendors to identify and implement instructional technology solutions, and manage, support, and maintain daily operations of the university's on-line Learning-Management System and other technology systems and software. Ensures continuing values to the end user, and mitigates and functional or service delivery issues.
  • Contributes to the creation of the department business plan and annual budget and monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Serves as a project manager and/or project team member for various education and training related projects and initiatives. Works closely with department team members and organizational subject matter experts to facilitate the design, development, and delivery of technological learning solutions.
  • Test deliverables to ensure functionality; upload to QA site, and test to ensure functionality.
  • Point person as the system administrator for Turnitin.
  • Research, identify, and partner with outside vendors, as appropriate.
  • Identify and manage the implementation of Webinar opportunities to share knowledge, system functionality, new processes, and new content with learners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, demonstrated problem solving and critical review capability, a self-starter and a team player.
  • Lead or strongly contribute to the development, facilitation, and communication of performance improvement and organizational impact metrics.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise-wide LMS applications.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or the equivalent. Masters preferred.
  • 2-5 years' experience managing and optimizing an LMS; experience with Blackboard and Canvas preferred.
  • Knowledge of e-learning, instructional design, and program facilitation is highly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate practices and business operations and excellent organization, communication, and project management skills are required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
  • Experience in the management of Learning Management Systems
  • Experience in IT application programming or data system integration
  • Knowledge in e-learning design and instructional design methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, demonstrated problem solving and critical review capability
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in project management methods and practices to achieve project outcomes
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
