Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Network Technician to join our team. This role involves on-site installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network hardware and cabling at client locations. The Network Technician will also be required to provide on-call support, ensuring timely assistance for urgent client needs outside regular business hours. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent customer service skills, and a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Install and Configure Network Hardware: Set up and configure routers, switches, access points, and other network equipment at customer locations according to ECM Tek's standards and project specifications.
  • Run and Terminate Ethernet Cable: Accurately run, label, and terminate Cat5e/Cat6 ethernet cabling to ensure a clean, organized installation that meets industry standards.
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot Network Issues: Identify and resolve connectivity issues in a variety of network setups using diagnostic tools and software to efficiently isolate and correct problems.
  • On-Call Support: Be on-call to resolve urgent client issues, ensuring network stability and minimizing downtime. Work flexible hours as required to support after-hours needs.
  • Customer Interaction: Work directly with customers to provide solutions, offer guidance, and ensure satisfaction with network installations. Act as a professional representative of ECM Tek LLC on-site.
  • Maintain Professional Work Appearance: Adhere to company dress code and maintain a clean, professional appearance while on the job to foster customer confidence and trust.
  • Maintain a Clean Driving Record: Operate company or personal vehicles as needed for site visits. Adhere to safe driving practices and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Use Hand Tools and Equipment: Utilize hand tools and testing equipment (e.g., crimping tools, punch-down tools, network testers) to complete installations and troubleshoot connections accurately and safely.
  • Climb Ladders and Lift Heavy Equipment: Be comfortable working at heights and capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds when transporting network hardware and equipment.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in network installation, troubleshooting, or a related technical role.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of network hardware and configurations, including routers, switches, and Wi-Fi systems. Experience with network cabling standards and Ethernet termination techniques.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and confidently with customers.
  • On-Call Availability: Ability to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergency support outside standard hours.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and work in various environments, including outdoors or confined spaces.
  • Other Requirements: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Familiarity with hand tools and network testing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with VLANs: Understanding of VLAN setup and management.
  • Router and Switch Configuration: Familiarity with configuring routers and switches in a professional environment.
  • Cloud Management: Experience with cloud-managed networking solutions.
  • Point of Sale (POS) Systems: Knowledge of POS system setups and network requirements.
