Overview
At CHI Health CUMC-Bergan Mercy, our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body, mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable, less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services, heart and vascular care, emergency services, surgery, maternity, cancer care and diagnostic imaging.
Responsibilities
Compounds and dispenses medications. Interprets medication orders and/or prescriptions for drug interactions, appropriate drug selection and appropriateness. Accurately enters the order or prescription into computer system, labels, and dispenses medications in a timely manner.
Demonstrates ability to document clinical activities and interventions such as consults, patient teachings and other patient specific information as defined by policy and procedure.
Verifies and checks medications prepared by other pharmacy personnel.
Communicates drug information to patients and health professionals. Resolves drug related problems by consulting with other health care professional to achieve appropriate patient outcomes. Unclear orders written by a physician are clarified with a physician. Assists the physician in appropriate drug selection and therapeutic regimens.
Achieves and maintains an adequate basic knowledge base to provide clinical services for all age groups served. Provides basic clinical services as required by policy and procedure.
Maintains a working knowledge of automated systems
Responsible for technician activities and performance. Provides direction and guidance as needed.
Participates in the orientation, instruction and training of pharmacy students and interns, pharmacy technicians, residents, pharmacists and other health professionals.
Performs duties in documented accordance with requirements of all regulatory and governing bodies. Mandatory education from a system and department level is completed.

Required Education for Staff Job Levels
A B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Required Licensure and Certifications
NE Pharmacist License
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess strong knowledge of Pharmacy Services; knowledgeable and skilled in current practice concepts of nursing home, community pharmacy service, and home I.V. Therapy; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
