As the Lead Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide comprehensive leadership and management to a team of LPNs and RNs, ensuring clinical excellence and quality improvement across all nursing functions. This role involves overseeing access to care, managing triage and nursing assessments, coordinating clinical documentation, and driving performance improvement initiatives. You will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations, ADHS standards, and CART accreditation. As a crucial member of our leadership team, you will contribute to direct patient care and act as a community liaison, representing our organization with professionalism and dedication.

Primary Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Leadership and Supervision: Provide strong leadership to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical best practices and maintaining high standards of patient care. Facilitate training, professional development, and performance evaluations for the nursing team.
  • Quality Improvement and Compliance: Coordinate and manage quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations, ADHS standards, and CART accreditation requirements. Implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Patient Care Coordination: Oversee the coordination of care for patients, including access to services, medication management, and triage. Collaborate with pharmacies, treatment providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Clinical Documentation: Ensure all clinical documentation is accurate, timely, and in accordance with organizational standards. This includes nursing special notes, assessments, medication logs, and entries in electronic health records.
  • Medication Management: Manage the processing, logging, and monitoring of patient medications. Develop and implement systems to track medication adherence, addressing any issues with the clinical team promptly.
  • Health Education and Wellness Promotion: Lead initiatives focused on health education for patients, covering topics such as the relationship between mental and physical health, the effects of psychiatric medications, and overall wellness strategies.
  • Emergency Response: Act as the first responder in medical emergencies, ensuring prompt and effective action in line with best practices and organizational protocols. Report incidents according to established procedures.
  • Community Liaison and Representation: Serve as a representative of the organization in the community, acting as a Corazon liaison and participating in outreach efforts to enhance patient care and organizational visibility.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Education and Licensure:
    • Hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
    • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a field related to behavioral health is preferred.
    • Master's degree or advanced certification in nursing or healthcare management is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one year of supervisory or management experience in a clinical setting.
    • Experience in residential healthcare settings or with behavioral health populations is highly preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Clinical Expertise: Deep knowledge of behavioral health symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment protocols.
    • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of healthcare professionals.
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in clinical documentation and patient education.
    • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in MS Office, Microsoft Outlook, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
    • Crisis Management: Ability to manage and respond effectively to medical emergencies and crises.
    • Professional Conduct: Commitment to maintaining professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions.
    • Bilingual Skills: Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are a plus.
  • Certifications and Clearances:
    • Obtain CPR/First Aid certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification, AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card, and a current TB test within 30 days of hire.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Valid Arizona Driver's license, vehicle insurance, and the ability to be covered under the organization's policy.
    • Ability to pass a drug test upon hire and comply with the organization's chemical use policy.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Work Environment: Work is performed in structured environments, requiring the ability to sit, stand, kneel, and lift up to 30 lbs. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required based on program needs.
  • Travel: Some travel may be necessary, depending on program requirements.
  • Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain competency and meet credentialing and organizational requirements.
