Northern Light Pharmacy Department: Retail Pharmacy - State St Position is located: 210 State Street Work Type: PRN (Pool/Per Diem) Hours Per Week: Variable Work Schedule: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Summary: Pharmacy Technician Interns are an essential member of staff at Northern Light Pharmacy. Pharmacy Technician Interns provide support for multiple facets of the operations of the pharmacy, including exceptional customer service, answer phone in a timely manner, patient interaction, data entry, prescription preparation, third party troubleshooting and sales of prescriptions. Responsibilities: • Proficient and responsible for all aspects of Pharmacy Technician I responsibilities • Demonstrates knowledge/skills of all aspects of the prescription filling process • Precise, accurate processing and filling of prescriptions and physician orders under the direction of a registered pharmacist in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations • Demonstrates comfort navigating through prescription processing system • Prepares and participate in inventory count preparation and process as required, including cycle counts • Maintain a clean, adequate in-date inventory • Generate patient-related documentation and other information as requested • Be a resource for pharmacy management and POS systems • Models excellent customer service • Remove outdated or recalled products in a timely fashion for return to the appropriate vendor and ensure that credit for return merchandise is optimized • Receive, transmit and verify inventory replenishment orders or credit return requests • Collect pertinent information from customers in order to assist in the efficient processing of prescriptions • Mentor and develop Pharmacy Technician I on pharmacy management and POS systems as well as common computer programs • Proficient in checking voice mail, able to answer doctor calls efficiently • Alert manager to any problems or situations as they occur and enlist his/her help if necessary • Quality Assurance Committee membership • Assists in HUB activities • May work in call center under the direction supervision of the Senior Clinical Pharmacist • A pharmacy technician intern may engage in the practice of pharmacy at a pharmacy only under the direct supervision of a pharmacist as defined in Chapter 1, Section 14 of the Maine Board of Pharmacy’s rules. • The assignment of any of the duties listed below to a pharmacy technician intern lies within the discretion of the pharmacist on duty as dictated by the Maine Pharmacy Act and the Maine Board of Pharmacy rules: • Acceptance of an original or renewal prescription drug order; • Receipt of a transferred prescription for a noncontrolled drug pursuant to Chapter 19, Section 8(2) of the Maine Board of Pharmacy’s rules; • Prescription data entry; • Prescription drug selection from inventory; or • Counting, packaging and labeling of prescription drugs for delivery. • A pharmacy technician intern may not perform any of the following tasks: • Sign any federally-required controlled substance or inventory form. • Complete verification steps of prescriptions prior to dispensing • A pharmacy technician intern shall carry the wallet-sized license card issued by the Maine Board of Pharmacy at all times the technician intern is on duty and shall produce the card upon request of the pharmacist in charge, a pharmacist on duty or an agent of the board.
