Position Summary

Provide technical expertise for proper operation and repair for all instruments, control systems and mechanical and electrical equipment in the power generation and associated industries, performing highly skilled work in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all mechanical, electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems. The Operation Maintenance Technician (OMT), under the direction of the Plant Operations Supervisor or Manager, is responsible for performing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on all instrumentation and control, mechanical, electronic and electrical equipment throughout the power plant.

Position Responsibilities
  • Assisting with various mechanical maintenance duties including predictive maintenance, replacement of filters, gaskets, valve packing, pump alignment, compressors, bearing repacking, and rigging
  • Wiring and disconnection of motors, replacement of thermocouples and fuses, pulling wire, and performing electrical checks
  • Operating and monitoring combustion turbines, 13.8 kV generators and electric generation balance of plant equipment, including start up and shut down of plant equipment
  • Understanding NERC regulations and guidelines when operating combustion turbines
  • Reading mechanical flow diagrams, electrical on-line and wiring diagrams
  • Ordering parts and assisting with inventory control and maintenance
  • Applying safe work practices and participating in the station's safety tagging and maintaining of records
  • Familiar with all forms of instruments and valves. Familiar with HART communicators and their uses/functions
  • Familiar with calibration procedures and their documentation
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all major equipment and systems, as well as emergency backup systems.
  • Maintain complete equipment files, logs and drawings for all designated equipment.
  • Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability and assist in physical inventories.
  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Diagnoses electrical, I & C, electronic, electrical systems problems Project Development
    Serves as a technical resource for personnel with regard electrical, I & E, electronic, electrical operation, and maintenance.
  • Conducts electrical and electronic systems inspections and tests as required to ensure plant is operating within specified parameters.
  • Responds to all electronic and electrical malfunctions as directed. Coordinates with the Plant Operator to identify and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Analyzes trends and operating parameters on all electronic and electrical systems to identify potential or impending failures and to ensure plant is running at optimal efficiency. Coordinates with Operations to identify and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and rearrange or modify as directed. Assists in Troubleshooting and repair of turbine controls and Plant DCS. Assists Operations personnel in the safe and reliable operation of the power plant.
  • Performs a variety of maintenance activities, including, but not limited to, equipment and test equipment calibration and alignment, inspection, testing, lubrication, etc.
  • Operates plant equipment (trucks, crane, forklift, manlift, etc.).
  • Maintains a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of work areas and shop areas.
  • Maintains electrical test equipment, tooling and shop areas as assigned.
  • Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system to generate work orders, purchase specifications, requests for quotes, and purchase requests as required to maintain and support ongoing maintenance and operations activities.
  • Work irregular schedules as needed to deal with potential power plant problems or outages as well as site specific power dispatching. Irregular schedules can include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Callouts 24 hours a day/ 7 days/week, shift work, overtime including longer days over a multiday period due to prolonged weather events, nights and weekends.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree (A. A.) in electronics or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful candidate will need to reside within a 30-mile radius from the plant site to which they are assigned. Note that occasional travel may be needed to other plant sites at management discretion.
  • 2 years' experience with operations and maintenance of LM6000 Gas Turbines
  • Available to work flexible work schedules, which may include weekend overtime or shift times as required.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Must reside within a 30-mile radius of the plant location.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrated use of a calculator to perform the above calculations is sufficient.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc.).
