Job Description
1. Assist the Head nurse in coordinating day to day operations in OR
2. Assist the Head nurse in staff scheduling using the current system
3. Supervising, leading and motivating employees
4. Interviewing and recruiting new employees
5. Filling in for Head nurse in case of her absence
6. Ensuring that goals and objectives are met
7. Evaluating employee performance and arranging staff training and development programs to plug any skill gaps.
8. Lead teams on various department specific initiatives to ensure the successful completion of the project
9. Develop ways to engage Perioperative staff by utilizing real time observation, peer to peer evaluations
10. Develop, implement and evaluate an ongoing staff education program to meet the learning needs of the Perioperative Department, including but not limited to BLS and ACLS, certifications, etc.
11. Collaborates with staff and other disciplines to resolve concerns/ issues.
12. Oversee the design, development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement activities which improve organization performance and comply with nursing professional and regulatory standards.
13. Act as liaison between interdisciplinary teams and nursing staff.
14. Responsible for promoting participative behavior in all staff and fostering collaboration in the department
15. Coordinates activities with other professional disciplines in other departments.
16. Establishes procedures and techniques, evaluates them and make changes.
17. Assist in the development of nursing standards for PACU.
18. Ensure that all policies and procedures pertinent to the department are reviewed and revised every two years.
19. Provides competency-based orientation, ongoing education and a mechanism for evaluation based on appropriate standards of care in the PACU.
20. Serve in committees within the Nursing Department.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and
2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and
3. Six (6) months of experience as a registered nurse.
