Description

Job Purpose

Perform cleaning of Generation Site facilities including office areas, restrooms, plant areas, and grounds.

Specific Responsibilities
  1. Perform cleaning of Generation Site facilities including office areas, rest rooms, plant areas and grounds.
  2. Perform minor repairs, including but not limited to:
    1. Mechanical: Installing or repairing door lock sets, door closures, minor repair of roof leaks, HVAC filter replacement, window glass replacement and glazing.
    2. Plumbing: Installing or replacing faucets, shower heads, sink and toilet drains, and trap replacements.
  3. Perform combustible dust program tasks
  4. Perform weekly vehicle inspections, including cleaning of the vehicles as needed.
Other Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility's safety programs, complete training appropriate for the position, and provide safe working conditions and practices.
  2. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department.
  3. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge
  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Experience with light mechanical or plumbing repairs preferred. Industrial experience beneficial.
  3. Complete the apprenticeship program for this position.
Skills
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all audiences, including customers.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with ability to build productive professional relationships and promote a team atmosphere.
  3. Proficiency with use of computers and mobile devices, including email, calendar, Internet browsers, and the Microsoft Office suite of products at a basic level.
  4. Good problem identification, analysis, and solving skills.
Abilities
  1. Ability to work as part of a team, either as team leader or a member of a team.
  2. Ability to drive results and ensure work is accomplished properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
  3. Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adjust work priorities as needed to meet department/organizational objectives.
  4. Must have mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working with power tools.
  5. Ability to read, and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals with proper training.
  6. Ability to distinguish colors.
Other Position Requirements
  1. Must possess a valid driver's license.
  2. Must comply with the Utility's Respiratory Protection Program.
  3. Must be able to attend work on a regular basis and work overtime as needed.
  4. Must maintain a method of communication in order to be contacted by MP&W outside normal work hours.
Work Environment
  1. Work environment is primarily in an industrial coal-fired power plant.
  2. Must be able to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, scaffolding, sky climbers, and temporary platforms under various types of weather/seasonal conditions.
  3. Must be able to work in confined spaces
  4. Must be able to perform the following regular and repeated physical tasks: shoveling, lifting, pulling, pushing, rodding, moving trash pumps, etc.
  5. Must comply with all safety and site rules at all locations.
