Job Purpose
Perform cleaning of Generation Site facilities including office areas, restrooms, plant areas, and grounds.
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning of Generation Site facilities including office areas, rest rooms, plant areas and grounds.
- Perform minor repairs, including but not limited to:
- Mechanical: Installing or repairing door lock sets, door closures, minor repair of roof leaks, HVAC filter replacement, window glass replacement and glazing.
- Plumbing: Installing or replacing faucets, shower heads, sink and toilet drains, and trap replacements.
- Perform combustible dust program tasks
- Perform weekly vehicle inspections, including cleaning of the vehicles as needed.
- Maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility's safety programs, complete training appropriate for the position, and provide safe working conditions and practices.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience with light mechanical or plumbing repairs preferred. Industrial experience beneficial.
- Complete the apprenticeship program for this position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all audiences, including customers.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with ability to build productive professional relationships and promote a team atmosphere.
- Proficiency with use of computers and mobile devices, including email, calendar, Internet browsers, and the Microsoft Office suite of products at a basic level.
- Good problem identification, analysis, and solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team, either as team leader or a member of a team.
- Ability to drive results and ensure work is accomplished properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adjust work priorities as needed to meet department/organizational objectives.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working with power tools.
- Ability to read, and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals with proper training.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must comply with the Utility's Respiratory Protection Program.
- Must be able to attend work on a regular basis and work overtime as needed.
- Must maintain a method of communication in order to be contacted by MP&W outside normal work hours.
- Work environment is primarily in an industrial coal-fired power plant.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, scaffolding, sky climbers, and temporary platforms under various types of weather/seasonal conditions.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to perform the following regular and repeated physical tasks: shoveling, lifting, pulling, pushing, rodding, moving trash pumps, etc.
- Must comply with all safety and site rules at all locations.
