GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible to inspect, validate, improve and document product weld quality per established company procedures and standards. Schedule and perform inspections of product at various stages of production to ensure conformance to weld and component specifications as defined per engineering or customer standards. Lead and administer the Company’s internal welding certification program and act as the Company’s primary resource for internal welding training. Work very closely with employees, leads and management teams to resolve quality problems and implement process improvements. Specific responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:

· Quality of Manufactured Products: Through personal inspection, utilization of job orders, and blueprints, ensure manufactured products meet the required specifications.

· Quality of Purchased Products: Through personal inspection, ensure purchased products meet required specifications.

· Evaluation: Through daily inspection results, provide feedback to the Manufacturing & Engineering Departments for quality improvements.

· Procedures: On a continuing basis, review existing procedures & advise the Quality Systems Manager of suggested procedural improvements.

· Calibration: Review and calibrate gauges, fixtures, welding machines, and measurement devices as required.

· Quality Assurance Records: Maintain Quality Assurance records, including data entry and filing of records.

· Develop and administer the Company’s internal welder certification program and maintain certification/training records.

· Train new welders on proper welding techniques and enhance the skills of existing welders

· Assist Engineering and Manufacturing with the development of proper welding procedures.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- 5 years of experience in GMAW (MIG) welding operations

- Manufacturing welding/fabrication experience is required.

- AWS CWI certification is required

- 2-4 years of experience in quality processes preferred.

- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

- Ability to comply with all safety, environmental and other local, state and federal laws and regulations.

- Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints.

- Good shop math skills including fractions and decimals.

- Must be able to use standard measuring and inspection devices.

- Ability to work standing on hard surface (e.g. concrete) for up to 10 hours per day in hot or cold environment.

- Good hand and eye coordination

- Good visual acuity.

- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crouch and stoop to perform various functions of the position.

- Ability to reach with hands and arms.

- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to work independently.

- Must be able to read and understand English.

- Comfortable using a computer with Microsoft Outlook and Excel
