The Matilda H. Theiss Child Development Center is the cornerstone of early childhood mental health services at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. For over 30 years, Matilda Theiss has supported person-centered, family-focused, positive approaches — as well as individualized models of care — across a continuum of services. The hire for this position will provide behavioral health interventions for children with trauma ages 2-5years, in a therapeutic classroom milieu. Opportunity to work closely and actively with colleagues in a team environment. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The dress code is business casual. Lease parking available. The Mental Health Worker Associate will facilitate groups, provide documentation and other patient support as requested. They will also provide daily trauma-informed behavior interventions and emotional support and enact as a classroom lead for mental health skills implementation and emotion/behavior support Responsibilities: · In cooperation with the team, develop, assess, facilitate, and monitor group activities for the patients. · Monitor daily progress notes, data collection, summarization, and graphing for assigned patients. This includes but is not limited to educational, behavioral and skills development programs as well as research protocols. · Work effectively and cooperatively in a trans-disciplinary environment, served by the supervision of several senior staff. · Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavioral and functional assessments of the patients. · Promote professional rapport with co-workers, patients, and visitors to the Institute. · Coordinate the data management involved in program evaluation and report these findings to other clinical community members. · Assess and monitor skills development programming (cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, expressive, social skills, process) for the patients. · Assist in monitoring patient satisfaction (teachers, parents, child, outside agency) · Provide daily trauma-informed behavior interventions, crisis de-escalation, and co-regulation. · Co-lead group therapy using evidence-based treatment (Incredible Years-Small Group) · Implement token economy system as positive reinforcement for behavior modification. · Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling and education or related field required. · Minimum of One year of experience in mental health or related field preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: · Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) · Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal · Act 33 with renewal · Act 34 with renewal · Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
