The Impact You'll Make


At Lam, as an EH&S Engineer, you're instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental safety programs and policies. Ensuring compliance with regulations, you'll perform safety inspections, conduct trainings, and oversee hazardous waste vendors and processes. Your expertise spans to life safety, workplace ergonomics, and monitoring industrial health compliance. Acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies you'll not only stay current but also reinforce Lam's commitment to safety and environmental compliance.



What You'll Do

  • Manage the environmental, industrial health and safety programs for semiconductor R&D laboratory operations at Lam's Fremont, California campus.
  • The position directly reports to the Fremont EHS Manager, dotted-line reporting to the Lab Operations & Safety Director
  • Oversee the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies; develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used by lab operations and associated business units.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies.
  • Assist in evaluation of chemicals, activities and processes for compliance and prevention of EHS impacts.
  • May be the point of contact for emergency personnel and manage workers compensation program administration.
  • Analyze performance trends to develop objectives under the EHS program.
  • Effectively lead positive change where needed to align with business objectives and other laboratory locations.
  • Assist lab operations and affected product groups with management of change activities, including equipment and tool installation, process safety review and R&D chemical use approval and pro-active prevention and management initiatives
  • Use appropriate communications and escalations to inform Fremont EHS Manager of all EHS-related incidents including, but not limited to injuries, illnesses, emergency incidents, including updates until root cause, corrective and preventive actions are identified and implemented.
  • Provide governance to ensure accurate systematic root cause and preventive action are implemented.
  • Interact collaboratively with lab leadership to drive continuous improvement to EHS programs.
  • May directly manage a safety team operating on a 24/7 work shift. Serve in a leadership role to safety committee members, engineering, and operations departments to ensure effective execution of EHS programs. Participate as a site emergency responder.


Who We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive EHS and/or process safety management (PSM) experience, including at least 5 years of semiconductor, cleanroom, facilities or chemical industry experience.
  • Deep technical experience in occupational health and safety, with a strong emphasis in chemical safety / compatibility.
  • Experience in applying EHS and regulatory knowledge to business decisions including the development of implementation plans for applicable requirements.


Preferred Qualifications

CSP, CIH, PE or other certifications preferred

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.



Salary


CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $111,000.00 -$244,000.00.



The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
