The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) is a non-profit advocacy organization for the Hindu American community. Founded in 2003, HAF's work impacts a range of issues - from the portrayal of Hinduism in K-12 textbooks to civil and human rights to addressing contemporary problems by applying Hindu philosophy.

The Foundation educates the public about Hinduism, speaks out about issues affecting Hindus worldwide, and builds bridges with institutions and individuals whose work aligns with HAF's objectives. HAF's three areas of focus are education, policy, and community. Through its advocacy efforts, HAF promotes dignity, mutual respect, and pluralism to ensure the well-being of Hindus and for all people and the planet to thrive.

Position Summary:

Working under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing and Creative Strategy, the Graphic Designer will assist in executing creative-driven tasks while maintaining branding of HAF, help elevate the output of design in quantity and quality, and maintain HAF's reputation of being the premier organization for Hindu American advocacy.

Essential Duties:

The Graphic Designer will be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Create and design various materials for digital, print, web, and video, working with wide range of media and graphic design software
  • Advise best practices and optimizations throughout design projects
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new approaches for creating more-expressive graphics
  • Stay current on design trends to ensure HAF remains fresh and relevant within branding guidelines
  • Manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions
  • Determine voice and messaging for graphic design pieces
  • QC design for errors
  • Create templates that fall within branding guidelines for general use
  • Review creative from external audiences to ensure compliance with organizational branding
  • Help maintain and organize media asset libraries on network drives and Adobe Creative Cloud
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a creative field, or demonstrate equivalent level of work experience in your portfolio
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in graphic design
  • Portfolio of work with a wide range of creative projects
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software (primarily Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Canva
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Figma
  • Familiarity with web design preferred
  • Ability to quickly learn platforms that enable remote work: Slack, Asana, Google Drive
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
