Qualifications:
  • Certified as a physical therapist in state of Michigan
  • Masters or doctorate of Science Degree in Physical Therapy and state of Michigan licensure.
  • Experience working with Pre-K through adolescent and adult students with disabilities.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, section 504, IDEA and other laws related to special education and physical therapy practice in schools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective technology skills (e.g. Microsoft 365, Outlook, PowerSchool, etc.)
  • Ability to determine physical therapy evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills.

Job Duties
  • Works with school team in planning and implementing activities to assist students with physical impairments access and participate in their educational experience.
  • Evaluates students' educational needs and uses the findings to provide information for programming development the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Schedules, performs, and reports on screenings, evaluations, and reassessment of students suspected of having a disability in order to determine the necessary level of intervention (if any).
  • Plans and implements interventions to support specific educational activities of students.
  • Provides training to appropriate persons to carry out necessary school based accommodations/supports/activities for students.
  • Arranges for obtaining, adapting, fabricating, and repairing equipment necessary to support students' physical needs in the school setting.
  • Functions as a team member for MET's, IEPC's, and maintains contact with staff, family, physicians, and other appropriate agencies.
  • Problem solves to meet students' ever-changing needs.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate records, reports, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
