Job Summary:

This is a clinical position responsible for performing Ultrasound and Vascular exams and related duties. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws. Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision.

Essential Functions:

1. Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.

2. Prepares patients for Ultrasound/Vascular procedures. Takes Ultrasound/Vascular images following established guidelines and procedures for patient care and safety.

3. Ensures equipment is in working order.

4. Logs Ultrasound/Vascular procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.

5. Maintains and cleans examination room. Stocks necessary medical and Ultrasound/Vascular supplies.

6. Processes Ultrasound/Vascular images to QC station.

7. Prints exams to CD/film when required.

8. Completes necessary worksheet/history forms and sends to Radiologist.

9. Sends images to Radiologist for interpretation and to archival system for storage.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

1. Knowledge of procedures and protocols.

2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement.

3. Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to equipment.

4. Knowledge of printing exams to CD/film

5. Working knowledge of PACS system and CD burner

6. Knowledge of sending and storing images.

7. Skill in positioning patients properly.

8. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.

9. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.

10. Ability to communicate clearly.

11. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, Physicians, patients, and families.

Education and Work Experience:

1. Graduate of accredited Ultrasound Program.

2. Graduate of accredited Vascular Program

3. Minimum of two years’ experience preferred

Certificates and Licenses Required:

1. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) Certification

2. Vascular Technologist (RVT) Certification

3. Current CPR certification

4. Required to maintain CE requirements

Environmental/Working Conditions:

Combination of office and exam setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a radiology department.

Physical/Mental Demands:

Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including assisting patients, manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
