Purpose

Provide technical support to the Airport's hardware, software, network systems, and related field equipment. This includes responsibility for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, installing and configuring software and hardware, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Provide support for teleconferencing (Teams, Zoom, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products (Office and Email)
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with computer systems, printers, servers, and other IT equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Respond to help desk tickets and resolve issues in a timely manner, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system updates, backups, and virus scans.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
  • Assist with the implementation of new IT projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and migrations.
  • Document technical procedures and maintain accurate records of IT inventory and software licenses.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry and make recommendations for improvements to our systems and processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices and procedures.
  • Work with structured wiring and cabling (copper and fiber optic) to support infrastructure.
  • Provide telephone equipment maintenance and support including performance of telephone moves, additions, and changes.
  • Have working knowledge of VoIP phone systems.
  • Support and troubleshoot Access Control System, Video Surveillance system, Flight information system, Terminal Paging System, and other network-based systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Two-year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Three years experience working as an IT Technician or in a similar role. Seeking experience with VMware and virtual server environments and experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered in meeting the minimum requirements.
  • Preference will be shown for other related technical certifications.
  • Must posses a valid state driver license, free of serious or frequent traffic violations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Read and interpret technical data and troubleshoot technical/mechanical problems.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and software applications.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and wireless networks.
  • Working knowledge of network administration of servers, firewalls, switches and network cabling.
  • Working knowledge of Telecom and Data Communication Standards regarding Build-Out and Cabling
  • Must be able to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) are a plus.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed for system maintenance and upgrades.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Job functions require sitting for extended periods, standing and walking frequently, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching occasionally. Must be able to walk over rough terrain, climb ladders, and crawl through small spaces.
  • Extensive wrist and hand movements required for frequent keyboarding, use of equipment, and driving.
  • Ability to perform close work to read and use computer required.
  • Ability to move about facilities & all areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to operate a computer, fax, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate via email, two-way radio and phone.
  • Ability to continuously exchange information through listening and talking with customers, coworkers, and other individuals required.

SECURITY/SAFETY:
  • Subject to a ten (10) year background check for security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport security badge as a condition of employment.

Supplemental Information

WORKING CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Regular contact with Airport management, employees, tenants, vendors, and the general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, ENVIRONMENT AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS:
Work will be performed inside and outside the terminal. Outdoor work may result in exposure to wind, rain, snow, ice and hot/cold temperature extremes. Some exposure to aircraft noise, pollution, and other hazards. Hearing protection provided and required. Schedule may include variable shifts. The position is subject to recall.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION REQUIRED:
Vehicles, two-way radios, mobile phones, computers and other office equipment.

Spokane Airport provides a generous benefit package. Currently, we cover employee at 100% and dependents at 90% of the premium cost. We offer four plan choices for medical coverage (includes vision) through Kaiser Permanente. The Airport contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) for high deductible plans and a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for the other plans. Dental coverage is through MetLife. Additionally, the Airport provides life insurance at two times the annual salary. Optional life insurance is also available. Short term and long term disability is also provided by the Airport. Retirement is through the Washington State Department of Retirement System - PERS Plan. The Airport provides an employee assistance program through BHO. Parking is provided.

The Airport recognizes 11 holidays. Vacation is earned at eight (8) hours a month for the first five (5) years and increases every five (5) years. Sick leave accrues at eight (8) hours a month. The Airport also provides military and jury leave.
