Department Details
  • Unit: CT Scan, Flr 2
  • General Certification Requirements: BLS
  • Certs/ARRT & Specialty Certification Requirements: ARRT Registry
  • Scanners/Rooms: 3 CT scanners (usually use 2)
  • Floating/Coverage Areas: Entire hospital, ER, outpatients (no IR procedures)
  • Common Imaging/Studies: CVA, basic chest/abdomen/pelvis, traumas, cardiac aiding studies (rarely), pediatrics, special needs patients
  • Experience/Skills Required: At least 1 CT travel assignment; personality fit is VERY important
  • Average Scans/Studies per Day: Each tech averages 10-15 per shift (fluctuates)
  • EMR & PACS: EPIC, McKesson/Change Healthcare PACS
  • Department Equipment: Siemens (backup scanner is Toshiba); experience preferred
  • Supervision: Manager (M-Th: Damian); seasoned tech (Tech3) on most shifts
  • Registered Radiology Assistants (RRAs): No
  • Radiologist Availability: In-house during the day; direct radiology and PACS from 10p-6:30a
  • IV Start: Prefer if able to start IVs
  • Shifts & Scheduling: Majority are 10-hour shifts; tech overlap in am (6am, 7am, 8am, 8:30am); 3 CT techs and a CNA on until afternoon; 7:30-8 for days; night shift alone from 3:30-6am
  • Weekend Requirements: 12-hour shifts; contract dependent; less seasoned staff on weekends
  • Holiday Requirements: Down staffing typically not needed; RTO to be disclosed during interview
  • Call/Standby Requirement: N/A
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Caribbean Blue (scrubs provided)
  • Orientation: Up to 3 shifts
