JOB SUMMARY: Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians works under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1.Current technician license from the Texas Board of Pharmacy.
2.Sterile IV Preparation Certification as described in the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Laws, Rules, and Regulations preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Fills physician's orders, medication kits and carts, and stock requisitions accurately.
2.Replenishes medications in emergency drug containers and floor stock areas accurately.
3.Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.
4.Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary accurately per established schedule. Picks up medications/requisitions from patient care areas.
5.Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
6.Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
7.Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas accurately within specified time periods. Rotates stock.
8.Repackages bulk medication in unit-dose packages safely and accurately using appropriate technique.
9.Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.
10.Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly. Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
11.Assists in the training of new technicians and students.
12.Maintains regular attendance.
13.Performs other duties as assigned or required.
