Job Description

The Lab Technician will assist the Lab Supervisor in determining nutrients in soil, tissue, and water for WL Ag Chem Dept. This involves quantitative testing as well as maintain quality assurance compliance objectives to achieve production targets.

Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.

• Understand and support the quality assurance program.
• Responsible for various instrumentation as well as their maintenance.
• Assist in training and supervision of lab assistants.
• Organizing the sample handling and assist in preparation workflow.
• Have a working knowledge of all SOPs relating to the responsibilities of the lab.
• Assist in the day-to-day prep lab operation.
• Track an inventory of reagents, consumables, and all other laboratory items.
• Responsible for sample receiving.
• Various tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School education or GED equivalent.
• Preferred experience in biological, chemical, agricultural, or mathematical field, or related discipline and in a food, beverage, agricultural, or related industry in a quality control environment, or an equivalent combination education and experience

SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

• ICP knowledge preferred, not required.
• Possess a basic understanding of laboratory workflow.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Bilingual English/ Spanish strongly preferred.
• Pay Range: $18/hr. - $25/hr. and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
