POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for, safety, quality, and efficiency as a tester is the testing on Power Transformers and transformer components.

Essential Functions

• Test transformers with various pieces of test equipment, work safely, develop, and put test data into test sheets, perform test calculations, analyze test data, and test failures.

• Calibrate and repair test equipment, assist new testers.

• Perform minor repair of test equipment.

• Keep the work area safe, neat, and clean.

• Department Housekeeping

• Meeting Production schedules and requirements

• Installation of specialized equipment

• Analyzes potential problems, provides options, and implements solutions

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to work on complex work assignments

• Must have good communication skills - oral and written

• Good computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office, programming

• Good understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts

Working Relationships -Relationships are generally intra-organizational, interacting with supervisors and co-workers. Contacts with vendors are also maintained

Education and Experience

• Various classes in Electrical Engineering a plus

• A good grasp on the basics of Electrical Engineering; topics such as turns ratio, EMF, Ohm's law Lenz's law, and circuit theory a plus

Preferred Education / Experience

• Previous work in a manufacturing environment preferred

• Power Systems course.

• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification.

Physical Job Demands

Ability to lift 60 lbs., work in extreme hot and cold weather, must stand for long periods of time, will be exposed to loud noise levels, operate hand and power tools for long periods of time. Work in an environment with dirt, grease, and dust. Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment. Ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly. May need a high level of concentration in a busy area.

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday and on-call is required. Shift, weekend, and overtime as required.
