Shower Eyewash Inspector

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Supervisor, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel - and our customers - to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Worcester, MA

Shift:Mon - Fri, ~6:30 am - 3:30 pm

Wage Range: $20-23 per hour

What we're looking for:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• 2+ years' experience in material handling, inventory replenishment, and/or customer service required.

• Knowledge of Information intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel required.

• Solid understanding and experience in either shipping, inventory, or purchasing required.

• High level of customer service skills including a professional can-do demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with both the customer and internal contacts required.

• High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures required.

• Ability to self-manage/self-motivate, think ahead, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and goals required.

• Physical fitness: 70% of the day on their feet, pushing an inspection cart and some heavy lifting up to 50lbs required.

• Knowledge of scientific products and services is a plus.

• OSHA training is a plus.

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

• The associates main job function will be to inspect safety eyewash and shower stations across a three-building bio-technology campus.

• Read water temperature readings.

• Confirm eyewash and shower stations engage and turn off properly at the correct flow rate.

• Follow a strict inspection schedule, in which each eyewash and shower location is inspected every seven days.

• Provide reporting on completed tasks updates to management daily.

• Work in a GMP environment (Full gowning will be required, shoe covers, gloves, hair net, safety glasses, Tyvek suit.)

• Order supplies for and refilling safety spill kits across the three buildings.

• Clean any excess water due to safety testing.

• Manage wet floor signs (placing them in labs and returning them to storage daily).

• Associate will be responsible for ordering tasks in inventory management (Scientific consumables, samples, etc.) and accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement on and off site and fulfilling customer metric reporting.

• Performs inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.

• Provides daily customer service functions and communicates with the customer relative to inventory management.

• Purchasing functions including but not limited to back-order reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, 3rd party support, managing quotes, document control, records maintenance, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.

• Responsible for all customer service-related functions including but not limited to order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking.

• Performs shipping coordination activities such as shipping customer material, handling routine issues, operating basic warehouse equipment, entering shipping information into the customer computer system, and equipment inspections.

• Interfaces directly with customer point of contact, purchasing directors, facility directors and plant managers.

• Responsible for managing consigned, non-consigned, customer owned or 3rd party inventory.

• Meets goals and objectives: safety, performance, and quality.

• Responsible for desktop delivery of inbound packages to customer contacts.

• Updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.
