Responsibilities

The Anesthesia Services Team facilitates the enterprise mission and vision while contributing strategies to optimize anesthesiology services and relationships alongside Operations, Finance, Human Resources and Development, among others. Under the direction of the Group Vice President of Operational Innovation and Strategy, the team sets enterprise operational, financial, and strategic goals for anesthesiology services, addressing challenges at the facility, regional, and national levels.

Role Description:



SCAH is seeking a Manager of Anesthesia Services to report to the Senior Director, Anesthesia Services. The position will support the execution of the business vision and partner with SCAH Operations leaders to address facility, regional, and national needs. The Manager of Anesthesia Services will partner with multiple operational, financial, legal, and compliance leaders for multiple workstreams, including supporting SCAH legal team members and facility leaders through the execution of contracts for anesthesia services at SCAH facilities, reviewing existing agreements to identify risks and opportunities for improvement, and fostering positive relationships with anesthesia providers at SCAH facilities and in key geographies. This position aims to drive internal and external growth while establishing best in class partnership models with anesthesiology clinicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with legal team to develop an understanding of operational needs and ensure anesthesia contract structures support those needs.
    • Support legal team in evaluation of operational needs and development of corresponding contractual structures reflecting specific operational and financial requirements related to anesthesia relationships and coverage. Work with operational leaders to ensure the articulated structures reflect the needs of a given facility.
  • Create and maintain project management systems to monitor and report on risk across SCAH facility anesthesia relationships.
    • Manage tracking of facilities experiencing anesthesia disruption and work with essential stakeholders (Operations, Compliance, Legal, Clinical) toward a timely resolution to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care at our facilities.
  • Partner with operations leaders to address anesthesia disruption with proactive solutions and structures.
    • Evaluate potential structures for anesthesia financial relationships and clinical coverage structures.
  • Monitor anesthesiology group performance.
    • Performance metric expectations are part of the Anesthesia group contracting process. Position will work with the facility CEOs to assess performance metrics performance.
  • Perform diligence review of potential development transactions.
    • Under the guidance of the Senior Director, Anesthesia Services and GVP, Operational Innovation & Strategy, participate in the diligence process to evaluate anesthesia coverage and relationships at sites under consideration for investment or future partnership with SCAH. Identify risks and opportunities in those sites and complete diligence reports on behalf of the team.

    • Participate in the execution of innovative solutions to address anesthesia shortage, cost and disruption based on market opportunity.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience in project and/or program management
  • Ability to learn financial management
  • Fluency with basics of contract review and contract management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with various stakeholders

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Flexibility to work across time zones as needed
  • 4-5 years health care; anesthesia experience is a plus
  • Travel to external meetings, company meetings, center visits, etc. (20-30%)
