We are seeking a passionate and resourceful Facilities/Aircraft Maintenance Assistant to support the infrastructure and operational needs of our growing business.

The Facilities/Aircraft Maintenance Assistant at Sherpa Air is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of all facilities and ground support equipment critical to our charter aviation services. This role ensures that our hangars, aircraft support systems, and administrative spaces meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and functionality. The position also includes being a mechanics assistant on the aircraft being serviced by Sherpa Air. The ideal candidate will have experience in aviation facility management and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced charter aviation environment. With enough aircraft work experience full lead to a certified aircraft mechanic.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities, Equipment Management, Mechanics Assistant and Line Service:

  • Assist the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of hangars, fuel servicing equipment, ground support equipment (GSE), and administrative facilities.
  • Coordinate routine inspections and preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and hangar doors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of facilities to meet aviation and customer service standards.
  • Assist with all ground support equipment, including tugs, fuel trucks, and loading vehicles, is serviced and operational.
  • Driving to deliver or pick up parts on as needed basis
  • Assist the aircraft maintenance personnel as directed.
  • Provide aircraft line service to include aircraft towing, aircraft refueling and aircraft ground power application.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Assist with full compliance with FAA, OSHA, and environmental regulations applicable to charter aviation operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks in facilities and operations.
Operational Support for Sherpa Air Charter Services:
  • Collaborate closely with flight operations and maintenance teams to support the efficient turnaround of aircraft.
  • Support fueling, de-icing, and other critical services required for seamless charter flights.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
  • Assist with relationships with vendors and contractors for janitorial, landscaping, and specialized aviation services.
Budget and Resource Management:
  • Track and manage inventory for supplies, spare parts, and tools necessary for operations.
  • Optimize spending without compromising safety or operational standards.
Team Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring alignment with Sherpa Air's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current state issued drivers license
  • Able to safely operate small power hand tools (carpentry and landscaping)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Reliable vehicle for transportation (if used for company use, will be compensated at government mileage rates)
Work Environment:
  • Active aviation facilities, including exposure to noise, moving aircraft, and weather conditions.
  • Physical activity required, such as walking, climbing, and occasional lifting.
  • Availability for after-hours or on-call duties to address urgent facility or operational needs.
Physical demands:
  • Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces.
  • Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and physical strength are necessary to operate tools and/or make adjustments and repairs.
  • Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of equipment and aircraft.
