Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

REPORTS TO:

Director of Special Services, Related Services Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SC-LLR License as an SLPA
  • Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of various Speech-Language Impairments and best practices for supporting students with disabilities
  • Ability to work well with people; demonstrate and maintain positive interpersonal skills
CONTRACT:

190 days

SALARY:

Classified salary scale, Grade 20 based on degree and experience

DUTIES:
  • Works alongside the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to share updates, concerns, and strategies to support special education programming of students with speech-language disabilities, meeting at least weekly;
  • Conduct screenings (without interpretation) following specified screening protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Provide direct treatment to students identified by the supervising SLP.
  • Provide interventions to students and support to teachers for students with speech concerns in the MTSS process.
  • Follow IEPs developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Document student progress towards goals.
  • Assist the SLP during the assessment of students.
  • Assist with data collection, preparing therapy materials, scheduling, and planning as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Participate in monthly Speech PLCs and any professional development opportunities provided.
  • Complete billable treatment notes that must be reviewed by and co-signed by the supervising SLP.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
