Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BUCASM), Department of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is hiring board certified, Chief ofPediatric Endocrinology with academic faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. Overview: The successful candidate for this position will join a team of pediatric endocrinologists,endocrine nurses, nutritionist, and a mental health professional in an expanding service. The position involves oversight of division operations including clinical, teaching and research activities. The candidate would participate inambulatory clinical services, inpatient consult services and the teaching and supervision of medical students and residents at Boston Medical Center, the major teaching affiliate of Boston University Chobanian and AvedisianSchool of Medicine. There is opportunity for expandedcollaboration with theInternal Medicine Endocrinology Division in refining a Pediatric-to- AdultTransition Clinic as well asclinical supervision of internal medicine endocrinology fellows.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a qualified candidate to leadthe expansion of patient care, teaching, and clinical research missions related to endocrinology, diabetes and weight management in the Department of Pediatrics.Our division offers a comprehensive Type 1 Diabetes Program, a multidisciplinary Type 2 Diabetes Program and an Adolescent Transgender Program. There is close collaboration with Pediatric and Adult GI and Nutrition around weight management services including bariatric surgery. Strong leadership andclinical skills and an interest in practicing in an academic urban environment are required. BMC serves a large urban population with complex medical and non-medical factors influencing health outcomes - candidates must be interested in working with our diverse population as a member of acomprehensive care team.
Department Overview:
The Department of Pediatrics has 110 faculty and offers a full range of pediatric subspecialty care. The Division ofEndocrinology currently includes 2faculty members, contracted physicians and a multidisciplinary clinical team. TheEndocrinologyDivision works closely with colleagues in primary care and other specialties to provide coordinated comprehensive care and wrap-around services to our patients and their families.The Pediatric Department is a center of excellence for care of children in an urban setting with over 65,000 ambulatory visits per year. Boston University Medical Campus is comprised of Boston University Chobanian and AvedisianSchool of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. The Medical School and Hospital are physically connected and professional hospital staff are on faculty at the medical school. Boston Medical Center is located in Boston's Historic South End District and provides care to a large urban population with a strong connection to our community health center network.
