The Director of Support Services shall lead district-wide initiatives aimed at improving student behavior, attendance, and school culture across all schools. He/She will perform such duties as are delegated by the Superintendent or designee.. He/She shall be responsible for

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to address student attendance issues and promote a culture of punctuality and responsibility.
  • Foster positive school climates by promoting respect, sense of belonging, and collaboration among students, staff, and the community.
  • Design and oversee professional development programs to equip educators and staff with strategies to improve student behavior and engagement.
  • Work with district support staff and school principals to create and maintain behavior management systems that support positive student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and other staff to provide support services for students struggling with attendance or behavior issues.
  • Maintain a system for monitoring and addressing chronic absenteeism across the district, implementing targeted interventions as needed per the Attendance For Success Act.
  • Engage with parents and community stakeholders to promote school attendance, positive behavior, and a culture of support and engagement.
  • Oversee the implementation of restorative practices and conflict resolution programs to reduce disciplinary incidents and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to student behavior, attendance, and school climate.
  • Serve as a resource and advisor to school leadership teams on behavior management, attendance improvement, and cultural transformation strategies.
  • Review and update student handbooks across all K-12 schools to ensure clear, consistent policies and expectations related to behavior, attendance, and school culture, aligning them with district goals and best practices.
  • Establish, track, and regularly report key performance indicators related to behavior, attendance, and culture, to identify trends, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate entry of student behavior and attendance data into FMS's Student Information Systems.
  • Conduct school-level data reviews with principals and staff to assess the effectiveness of behavioral and attendance initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Analyze demographic and other relevant data to identify disparities in behavior, attendance, or culture, and develop strategies to address these gaps.
  • Share insights from data analysis with staff, parents, and community members to inform collaborative efforts and ensure transparency in district goals and progress.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of school climate surveys and other cultural assessments to gauge the effectiveness of programs and initiatives aimed at improving school culture.
    • Promote an environment/climate conducive to productive performance.
    • Plan for and manage the resources for which he/she is responsible, including personnel, finances, facilities program and time.
    • Communicate accurately and effectively.
    • Use supervision, staff development, and performance evaluation to improve the programs of the district.
    • Demonstrate leadership.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize a system of quality data driven decisions to ensure a culture of high performance for all students and staff
  2. Is responsible for working with program administrators in providing explanations and assistance in implementing the requirements for services to all students that qualify for the program.
  3. Is responsible for working with program administrators on all PED paperwork for proposals, enrollment verification and end of the year reports.
  4. Provides guidance and support to all program administrators for obligations of current grants and all the requirements for budget and reporting.
  5. Assists program administrators with interviewing and hiring qualified staff.
  6. Provide leadership to Support Services in the use of the FMI and other district initiatives to ensure a culture of high performance for all students and staff
  7. Other duties as assigned by their supervisor
Qualifications: Master's degree in education, valid NM administrative license as required by the State of New Mexico, 5 years of experience in public school administration and supervision and/or teaching. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture may be required.

Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.

Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
