Overview The Buyer-Planner/Programmer is personally responsible for managing a set of commodities to meet business objectives and for all electrical controller programming. Their business objectives include optimizing inventory, customer & supplier on-time delivery performance, material quality, material productivity, and customer satisfaction. An annual range of $40-50M of purchased material flow from 290+ Hussmann vendors. This role will be solely responsible for 40-60 Hussmann vendors purchasing $10M+ of inventory in a fiscal year. This role will also be responsible for using their technical expertise to program electrical equipment and controllers. The Buyer-Planner/Programmer will report to the Supply Chain Manager. Responsibilities Exemplifies and promotes the ethical conduct of the purchasing function in all relationships with Hussmann plant personnel and outside vendor contacts. Maintains compliance with corporate policies, domestic and international trading laws, and other established legal and procedural guidelines. Analyzes, evaluates and schedule materials availability to meet customer demand. Identifies values enhancement and cost savings opportunities to plant processes and purchased materials. Recommend actions required to insure operational effectiveness. Manages and programs all electrical controllers by installing and configuring software according to process specifications. Maintains responsibility for KB drives, all controllers, and for all SKUs that come from a vendor of controllers. Maintains the stocking levels of supplies used to program electrical equipment. Perform cycle counts to ensure adequate inventory levels for programming materials. Expedites materials needed from vendors for customer orders related to programming controllers not in stock. Collaborates with cross functional departments to organize shipments, investigate warranty claims of controllers, and look into invoicing issues/discrepancies from vendors. Works directly with customer service to acquire necessary programming information from customers (i.e., serial numbers, case model, etc.). Selects and implements optimal lean manufacturing supply chain solutions including using the best possible tools, such as E-commerce, MRP, Kanban, Min/max, SOMI, VMI, and third-party warehousing. Utilizes information provided by business systems daily to balance demand and supply of all assigned items, considering both assets investment and responsibilities to change. Collaborates with internal and external customers to negotiate and resolve scheduling conflicts, inventory levels, material shortages, and other material issues/conflicts. Initiates new sources for materials along with Global Sourcing. Gathers and monitors relevant data elements regarding supplier performance to improve lead-time, purchase price, quality, transportation costs, and on-time delivery and initiate and implement corrective actions. Maintains relevant system data elements including lead-time, order policy, safety stock and all order modifiers. Handles responsibility for all facets of inventory control including identification and processing of obsolete, inactive, and excess material. Resolves disposition of rejected material within set period. Coordinates implementation of engineering hinge orders and pre-releases to achieve phase in/out of material to support operations as well as ensure on-time delivery, inventory objectives and cost effectiveness. Resolves invoice discrepancies. Additional duties & responsibilities as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred. 5+ business experience; 1-3 years of related materials/planning/purchasing experience preferred. Strong oral and written communication with both internal and external customers. Must have knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; Oracle knowledge preferred. Ability to read blueprints required. Experience with capacity planning and purchasing negotiation preferred. Strong computer skills. Microsoft program skills preferred.
