Sensor Hardware Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver mechanical and physics-based modeling, simulation, and analysis.

  2. Use strong background in modeling, analyzing, and developing solutions for a wide variety of mechanical and hardware challenges.

  3. Approach complex problems with an analytical mindset firmly rooted in engineering first-principles.

  4. Unafraid to challenge underlying assumptions, consistently validate analysis through rigorous prototyping and empirical testing, and exhibit dedication to delivering solutions in addition to insight.

  5. Collaborate with designers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to identify risks, strategically create simulations, plan and conduct validation testing, and deliver objective, data-driven engineering guidance and solutions.

  6. Contribute to the creation of product requirements and technical specifications, and provide data and technical guidance for product architecture development efforts.

  7. Organize and lead structural design reviews, solution brainstorms, and implementation efforts.

  8. Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve problems.

  9. Present results in a form actionable by cross-functional team members and leadership.

  10. Advance team capabilities through the use of new methods, materials, technologies, and software.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Doctoral (PhD) degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field and 3 years of work experience in the job offered or an engineering-related occupation. Requires 3 years of experience in the following:

    1. Multiphysics Modeling including Modal, Structural, Thermal, Vibration and Harmonic Analysis.
    1. Experience in material properties and non-linear material modeling capabilities for item(s) such as plastics, metals, elastomers, adhesives, glass, PCBA, flex circuit, or magnets.
    1. Experience working with external consumer electronics vendors in the product development lifecycle and manufacturing.
    1. Modeling and testing of MEMS based sensors used in consumer electronics.
    1. Applying statistical models (Monte Carlo, DOE, statistical process control) to analyze packaging design with tight tolerances.
    1. Creating and maintaining device and system models (Ansys, COMSOL or similar software) and matching model results with characterization results.
    1. Applying broad technical understanding across multiple disciplines including mechanical and optical systems, hardware, software, controls, and reliability engineering.
    1. Operating standard lab equipment such as Instron testing machines, accelerometers, strain measuring devices, DAQ boards etc.
    1. Experience with creating engineering requirement documents with clear understanding of specifications and engineering requirements.

Public Compensation:

$238,823/year to $276,870/year + bonus + equity + benefits
