Job Title:  Heavy Equipment Road Mechanic - Hampton

  • The primary responsibilities of this position are to diagnose and repair heavy highway equipment and maintenance issues.

Description of Duties:

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Perform field repairs and overhaul of the various heavy highway equipment.
  • Test equipment following repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with operating specifications.
  • Perform the necessary field preventive maintenance practices to increase the service life of the equipment.
  • Notify the Shop Foreman when problems arise, especially when delays involve moving equipment.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with heavy equipment preferred.

Skills Required

  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Diagnose and repair heavy highway equipment.
  • Able to perform repairs in accordance with OSHA safety regulations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Mechanical aptitude.

Physical Demands:

  • Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Overtime work is required.
  • Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
