A Mother-Baby Registered Nurse (RN) is a healthcare professional who specializes in providing care for new mothers and their infants. The RN is responsible for assessing and monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and baby, and providing education and support to new families.Key Responsibilities:Assessing and monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and babyAdministering medications and treatments as prescribedAssisting with the initiation of breastfeeding and providing support for ongoing breastfeedingEducating new mothers and families on infant care, feeding, and bondingAssisting with discharge planning and providing ongoing support and resourcesMaintaining accurate and detailed patient recordsResponding to emergency situations and resuscitating patients as neededQualifications:Current state nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN)Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferredAt least 2 years of recent experience in a Mother-Baby unitStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively as part of a teamKnowledge of healthcare technology and medical equipmentCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationWorking in a Mother-Baby unit can be both challenging and rewarding. The RN must be able to provide compassionate and empathetic care to new mothers and their families during a very sensitive time in their lives. The RN must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient needs. The role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to provide ongoing support and resources to families as they navigate the early days of parenthood.This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
