Job Description

Position Overview

This role works under the direction of the IT Network and Systems Manager to support the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems. The IT Technician is the primary on-site point of contact for IT support.

Responsibility Summary

  • Installing and configuring all IT related hardware and software components to ensure usability.
  • Set up workstations and removal of computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.) as needed.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose hardware or software issues and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware as needed.
  • Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
  • Provides Tier 1 support for users through the IT Help Desk and being the on-site contact
  • Maintaining hardware asset management documentation for site
  • Work with vendors to quote and purchase hardware and/or software as required.
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders w/vendors.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
  • Maintain local networks in ways that optimize the performance of internal networks.
  • Ensure security and privacy of internal networks and computer systems.
  • Maintain VoIP systems for site working with vendor as needed.
  • Maintain site copier machines as needed as well as any multi-function devices.
Experience/Qualifications
  • Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams as required in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience asIT Technicianor relevant position
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks internally to Lucas-Milhaupt
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent.
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, both workstations and servers. Experience with network infrastructure and network protocols.
  • Knowledge and experience with common office applications e.g. Microsoft Office and Adobe Products, desktop and server hardware.
  • Experience working with an ITMS system such as SolarWinds or Service Now
  • General mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot/repair devices as needed.
