We are searching for a talented and experienced Data Visualization Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing and developing impactful visualizations that drive informed, data-driven decisions for our clients. You will also be responsible for implementing interactive dashboards and standardizing visualization best practices as we scale out our data storytelling capabilities. You will join a collaborative team and will get to be a key leader at the outset. We want your expertise and vision too

This role will span across civil engineering practices and requires the ability to adapt solutions across multiple domains. Accordingly, you should be able to formulate an MVP, empathize with the challenges and needs of clients and colleagues, and work collaboratively with subject matter experts.

Responsibilities:

Your main responsibility will be to always maintaining focus on the why and end users. Let others do "cool". We expect that with this you will:
  • Design and create impactful data visualizations, dashboards, and infographics
  • Collaborate with data analysts, researchers, and subject matter experts to understand data sets and business needs
  • Translate raw data into visually appealing and easily understandable graphics
  • Develop interactive visualizations and data-driven storytelling pieces
  • Ensure data accuracy and implement best practices in data visualization
  • Stay current with the latest data visualization tools, techniques, and trends
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Graphic Design, or related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in data visualization or related role
  • Expert designing data visualization in JavaScript, Python or R
  • Expert in hooking into disparate data sources (Database, Cloud, Flat Files) using SQL and Bash
  • Expert in data visualization tools and libraries (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, Shiny)
  • Excellent design skills with a portfolio demonstrating data visualization work
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL,Bash) for data manipulation
  • Experience with database systems (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Knowledge of UX/UI design principles
  • ArcGIS Online
