They will archive and retrieve data to (and from) off-line tape storage and do quality assurance of Digital Intermediate files. MAIN DUTIES: The Data I/O Technician will work closely with our in-house production teams to receive, log, track, and manage files needed throughout the VFX pipeline. The candidate will send, receive, and distribute files using Aspera and web-based file transfer methods. The ideal candidate will be able to archive/retrieve data to the off-line tape library and perform quality assurance tests of Digital Intermediate files. In addition, the candidate will be able to communicate inbound / outbound file deliveries within multiple departments to ensure the timely completion of work. Additional duties include: Maintain logs of completed work orders and inbound files. Identify and troubleshoot network and hardware discrepancies. Receive, log and track all materials and communicate with production teams on materials received and delivered. Perform other related duties as assigned. WHAT YOU BRING: The ideal candidate will be familiar with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, and will have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. The must have strong attention to detail, as well as strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Additional desired skills include: Ex cellent interpersonal and communication skill Ability to multi-task under pressure with minimal supervision. Able to prioritize and meet departmental goals. Experience in Computer/ Information Science, Media, Communications or related field is a plus. Experience with D.I., editorial, or sound files in a Film/ TV Post-Production environment is a plus. Ability to navigate proficiently in a Linux/Unix shell, execute commands, & write simple scripts is a plus.
