HOURS: Part Time
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
COMPENSATION: This position is paid in accordance with the Greenville Education Support Personnel Association Master Agreement.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide safe transportation for students to and from school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned
  • Drive safely along designated routes
  • Perform complete pre-trip, in-between-trip, and post-trip inspections
  • Obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations
  • Follow a specific time table when on duty
  • Assist passengers with disabilities to get on the bus
  • Prevent or stop unruly behavior from passengers
  • Check bus tires, lights, and oil daily for basic maintenance
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and record keeping skills
  • Be able to perform standard clerical duties, including telephone calls
  • Working knowledge of all components of a school bus
  • Working knowledge of all laws related to the operation of a school bus
  • Composted and positive under stressful situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and parents in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Demonstrated self-starter who can work well independently
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience driving different types and sizes of school buses preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid commercial driver's license with B designation, P and S endorsements
  • Airbrake endorsement with no restrictions (or willingness to obtain)
  • All required certifications for a school bus driver (or willingness to obtain)
