Description
As a Personal Trainer at the Y, you are in a unique position to change someone's life by building connections and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Our Personal Trainers instruct and motivate individuals and small groups in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Under the direction of the Engagement Director of Wellness, the Personal Trainer's primary responsibilities include:
- developing workout plans for various fitness levels and populations
- working one-on-one with clients, small group personal training (2-4), and continuing growth and development of boot camps
- tracking clients with training purchases and providing assessments to ensure quality and progressions towards client goals
- Effectively recruits new clients and promotes current programs.
- Provides individuals with exercise testing, prescriptions and instructions.
- Leads energizing, safe and educational small group boot camps.
- Creates a welcoming and enthusiastic environment in the wellness center for all fitness levels and encourages and motivates members.
- Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Keeps accurate class attendance records.
- Attends required training sessions, workshops and staff meetings.
- Participates in master classes, fundraising and other special events, as required.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
- 2+ years of education in Exercise Science preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Current CPR, First Aid and Oxygen; or willing to obtain within first 30 days
- Training experience and expertise; Injuries, Weight Loss, Sports Conditioning
- Willingness to work with all ages.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
