Plains All American is a leading provider in the transportation and midstream sector, specializing in the transportation, storage, processing, and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). We own an extensive network of pipeline transportation, terminal, storage, and gathering assets in key crude oil and NGL producing basins, transportation corridors, and major market hubs across the United States and Canada. On average, we handle over 6 million barrels of crude oil and NGL per day.

Job Purpose/Summary:
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of diesel engines and HAZMAT tankers, as well as performing general maintenance as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on transport trucks, trailers, and pickups.
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
- Ensure proper documentation, including D.O.T., state inspection, and insurance papers, are included in the cab data book.
- Operate fork lift and company-assigned pickup when necessary.
- Adhere to all safety procedures related to working with electricity, engines, compressors, and material safety data sheets.
- Work in proximity to potential hazards (H2S, chemicals, high voltage, etc.) while following safety protocols.
- Perform brake diagnostic and repair, troubleshooting, and inspections of equipment.
- Conduct state truck and trailer inspections.
- Make independent decisions and provide regular progress reports.
- Maintain accurate paperwork for inspections and compliance.
- Work autonomously and manage outside repairs effectively.
- Assist in scheduling trucks for maintenance and inspections.
- Help maintain Safety Data Sheets.
- Operate under indirect supervision, with occasional oversight.
- Lead and train junior mechanics as needed.
- Cover for the lead mechanic during their absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Foster a culture of safety in all work decisions and actions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate mechanical aptitude with a focus on diesel and gasoline engines, along with electronics and testing equipment.
- Basic math skills necessary for taking measurements and performing service work.
- Possess applicable safety training, licenses, and certifications for the job assignment.
- Ownership of personal tools (Tool Allowance provided).
- Maintain a valid Class C operator driver's license; CDL license is preferred.
- Pass a comprehensive pre-employment background check (including MVR) and drug testing.
