DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform standardized On Road assessments to evaluate the skills and competencies of applicants seeking a Commercial or Non-Commercial Driver License, ensuring the process is conducted safely and courteously. You will assess the applicant's physical condition and driving qualifications, as well as the mechanical state of their vehicles, in accordance with established guidelines and standards. Prior to conducting driving tests, you will carry out pre-trip inspections of vehicles, checking for inspection stickers, lights, windshield wipers, and other mechanical features to guarantee safety and confirm the applicant's familiarity with vehicle controls. You will review applications, registrations, and permits for any signs of irregularities or fraud. Additionally, you will administer both the CDL and Non-CDL knowledge examinations to evaluate applicants' understanding of the motor vehicle code and traffic signs. Your role will also involve assessing the applicant's practical driving skills and adherence to road rules, as well as conducting vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Overtime and travel required
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or
  • Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
  • This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
  • All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
